Show who Jesus is

'...From the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.' Luke 12:48 NIV

As Christians, we can be some of the most annoying people on earth! How often do we show our faith by criticising the people around us, rather than loving them and looking for a chance to say something encouraging? We can ruin our testimony when we give people the impression that we are happy to talk about Jesus but we don't seem to act like Jesus. The next step from here is to alienate ourselves as an 'elite group' looking down on other people who we see as 'less than' us. We like to put people into two boxes: the ones we approve of and the ones we don't.

Not Jesus! He rubbed shoulders with everybody. He was amazing at reaching out to those who religious society looked down upon; the prostitutes, the tax collectors, the lepers.

Jesus said, 'From the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked' (Luke 12:48 NIV). Just because you've been called to a higher standard doesn't mean you are 'better' than everyone else. It means you are expected to show greater wisdom, humility and grace in the midst of all sorts of hassles and tension.

So what now? If someone in your family or friendship group isn't part of a Christian community, the only chance they have of seeing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in operation is in your life. So, respond with patience, love and grace and you'll make a lasting impact on them - one that could lift them up into the arms of the Jesus you claim to serve.
