Comfortable with loose ends
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.' Proverbs 3:5 NLT
Do you sometimes get too stressed when things don't come together exactly as you'd like? Are you expecting God to wave a magic wand over your life so that everything suddenly becomes neat and tidy? Do you get anxious when you don't like the way God's handling the process? Paul says, 'Do not be anxious about anything...' (Philippians 4:6 NIV). That's hard to hear if you like to organise things and find a place to put them so they make sense and feel 'taken care of'.
When you hit a glitch or get a scratch in your faith, you can't just go down to the shops and get a replacement. You have to talk to God about it and ask him what he's going to do about your problem. Once you've worked through the questions and have come to the point of decision, stop fretting and trust God.
You may find that the things you think are high priority may not be anywhere near the top of God's list for your life. And, as he takes you through the process of sorting out the mess, you may discover valuable things hidden and forgotten.
So what now? If you want growth, you have to be at peace with the messiness and mistakes that accompany it. If you prefer everything to fit into neat little boxes, this Scripture is for you: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding' (Proverbs 3:5 NLT). Learn to be comfortable with loose ends and trust God!
