His purpose

'...let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.' James 1:4 NKJV

Are you hoping - maybe even praying - for something specifically? Are you becoming impatient waiting? Listen, just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't, or that God has changed his mind. While you are waiting, God is working; your timing may not be right for him to get the ultimate fame and you the ultimate gain. That's why James writes: 'Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing' (James 1:4 NKJV).

You may not want to hear this; but impatience is a sign of immaturity. Young children can't wait for anything; but a good parent knows what's best. God has got all sorts of amazing stuff in store for you. We call this his 'purpose' for your life. Paul writes: '...we know that all things work...according to his purpose' (Romans 8:28 NKJV). When you really believe God has a purpose for you, you won't let things get in the way of it, including hurry and worry. You'll also have a clearer idea of what to do with your energy, time and money.

What are we supposed to do while we are waiting? We look after our attitude and use the time to praise him. Listen: 'Even though the fig trees have no fruit, and no grapes grow on the vines... I will still be joyful and glad because the Lord God is my Saviour' (Habakkuk 3:17-18 GNT).

So what now? Begin praising God today for what he's going to do - because he absolutely will come through for you, according to his purpose!
