God at work in your life
'The Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush.' Exodus 3:2 NIV
On a day that started out like many, Moses spotted a burning bush out of the corner of his eye. Then he heard a voice from out of the bush calling his name. That certainly wouldn't have been what Moses was expecting!
When God works, it's not always in ways we expect. Just when we think we have God figured out, he surprises us. We may not encounter a burning bush or talking donkey (see Numbers 22), but he can work in many different ways. And we won't always understand them. God says: 'My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts' (Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV).
Sometimes, we're not even open to seeing God at work. We get distracted or aimless and we miss, or forget to look for, how God's moving in our lives. It's important that we become more alert and aware, or we'll miss what God has for us. When Moses encountered the burning bush, he said: 'This is amazing!...Why isn't that bush burning up? I must go and see it' (Exodus 3:3 NLT). Let's focus on 'seeing' what God is doing in our lives, too.
So what now? Every day, pray this: 'Father, thank you for this new day. Open my eyes and show me how you're working in my life. Give me fresh insights in your Word that reveal new aspects of your character so that I might do your will and glorify you.'
