Hold on to your passion

'He did not give up.' Hebrews 12:2 GNT

Jesus had vision. He kept going, even when it was challenging. The Bible says: 'Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus... He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne. Think of what he went through... do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up' (Hebrews 12:2-3 GNT).

God is an expert at transforming the worst of sinners into his greatest Kingdom-builders: like the apostle Paul, once Saul, the Christian persecutor. He had huge vision and passion, and once it was a vision of Jesus that fuelled him, he was perhaps the most effective Jesus-advocate in early church times. And, once we too line up our passion with God's plan, there will be no stopping us. Jesus said to the Laodicean church: 'You are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other' (Revelation 3:15 NLT)!

So what do we do if we find ourselves lacking passion? We can ask God to increase our passion and spend time with people who are passionate about what God's called them to do. Whatever God's called us to do in his Kingdom is an incredible privilege. Let's do it with passion.

So what now? Feeling a little lukewarm in your faith? Read Hebrews 12 - it will encourage and inspire you to stir up your passion for Jesus.
