Let's give God our 'all'
'Blessed are those who...seek him with all their heart.' Psalm 119:2 NIV
God's Word says: 'Love the Lord...with all your heart' (Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV); 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart' (Proverbs 3:5 NIV); 'You will...find me when you seek me with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV). The key word here is 'all'. Do we love the Lord with all our hearts? Are we trusting him and seeking him with all our hearts? It's easy to let other things into our hearts: work, family, even serving in the church. We may be giving God the time we have left over, or only go to him as a last resort. We may find ourselves loving him when times are great, and being disappointed and disillusioned when times are bad. In both the good and bad times we need to be seeking him first, with all our heart, listening for his promises. By soaking in God's promises we can: keep going when we're tempted to give up; keep loving him when things seem to be coming up against us; keep trusting him to bring us through and work things for our good; keep seeking him when we can't seem to see beyond our situation.Whether we're exhilarated by our victories, content with our day-to-day, or discouraged by our defeats, let's seek him with everything we have so that we can be all he wants us to be. So what now? Create a pie chart of all the things taking up space in your heart. How much space is allocated to God? Give him all your 'pie' - he will work things out for you.
