Choose a full life
'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' John 10:10 NIV
Ever felt empty inside? We can try and fill this emptiness with things like relationships, work and money, but they are unable to make us feel full and satisfied with life. In fact, they can actually make us feel even emptier. When we aren't connected with God, there will always be an emptiness - he is the only one who can fully satisfy us.
But Satan, our number one enemy, doesn't want us to be filling ourselves with the things of God. Quite the opposite: his aim is for us to feel empty. He wants to take things away from us, and to make us question God. When we feel empty, we can begin to doubt God and his goodness. We can ask, 'Is God really for me? Does he have good things in store for me?' Jesus tells us that the enemy is like a thief, who 'comes only to steal and kill and destroy' (John 10:10 ESV).
But God's Word, the Bible, tells us that God is good, and he has good gifts and plans for us. Jesus said: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10 NIV). This is not a 'fullness' in the way the world defines it. When we fill ourselves with God, it is jam-packed with his goodness, love, peace and joy.
So what now? What has been filling any emptiness in your life: the things of this world or the things of Jesus? Why not take Jesus up on his offer of a full and good life.
