Welcome to the family
'We who are alive...will...meet the Lord in the air.' 1 Thessalonians 4:17 ESV
Jesus' return is described in this way: 'For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words' (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NAS).
Do we know that we're going to have eternal life as part of God's family? If we're not sure, let's not let this day end until we put our trust in Jesus and choose him as our Lord and Saviour. We don't go to Heaven by chance, we go by choice. Those who acknowledge Jesus as their Saviour will arise to celebrate the greatest family reunion of all time.
Do the people we know love Jesus? If not, we have a responsibility to point them to the Saviour. It may be scary, but we can ask God to be with us as we do. We may be the only Christian these people come into contact with. It's not only a responsibility but a privilege to introduce people to Jesus. We get to partner with him in bringing people to him and to help grow his family.
So what now? Talk with someone who doesn't yet know Jesus as their Saviour. Ask God to give you the words to say as you welcome them to his family.
